Oh my heavens...this entry made me want to get outside RIGHT NOW!!! I'm just starting to learn about CM and must say that I absolutely LOVE her philosophy and ideas. My little one is very little--barely 21 months--and she so loves the outdoors. My only problem is that...er...I don't! It's so sad! As a kid I LOVED being outside, loved exploring, had no fear of the bugs and spiders and such, no thoughts to what I might step on while running barefoot through the grass...though I suppose that's part of the bliss of childhood, that ignorance and innocence. But how to get back to that place and shed all my grown-up concerns? *sigh* Still don't know. Hoping to learn.

Thanks again for a beautiful post!!

Thank you so much for your entry to the carnival, Melissa :) I have read your post several times and I love it! I was very blessed to hear how you have found "special spots" in each new locale. Thanks, again!

Oh, this post made me a little sad. Right now, we're just getting started in our homeschool journey. My oldest of four is just six years old. I'm sad to think that my youngest ones won't have the same long hours outdoors everyday like my children do now. Is there no way to get outside each afternoon once everyone gets older?

What would she say about the mother who cant go outdoors because of allergies? I love Charlotte Mason but she assumes so much. There's a big difference between being a school teacher and being a mother 24/7.

I notice the more time spent outdoors, the less mess to cleanup indoors. Thanks for this lovely post including all the Charlotte Mason passages. I must read some of her writing.
