<em>Because, yes, I am the kind of person who goes to a comic book convention and mainly takes pictures of candy.<em>

I'm so grateful that I get to read about Barcelona from such a gifted writer! Don't apologize for the lengthy posts - it's delightful (especially since I can't imagine I'll ever get there myself).

I'm loving the pics! I was a Spanish minor in college but studied in Mexico instead of Spain. Loved it, not so far from home.

Something tells me you're a Mac person and not a PC person, but maybe you can apply this anyway. And, I'm hoping you have Office. The easiest way to set up symbols is in Word (I think).

Open a new document, and go to Insert, then Symbols. Choose (normal text) for your font. Scroll down until you find characters that you want to use (the c with the tail, or vowels with accents - whatever). Single click on it, and it will tell you what the short cut key is for that. You can change it, so long as what you want to use is not already assigned.

I clicked on the box "Press New Shortcut Key" and tried holding down control and c. (Just like you do when you want to copy something - hold control and press c). It told me that it was already assigned to "copy". So, I tried Alt-c in the same manner, and it is unassigned.

Click assign, and close out of that (or make new shortcuts for any other symbols). Now, when you're typing in Word (or other office programs, I think), you can just type alt-c and get that symbol.

I'm not sure what you use for your blog, though . . . so you could either leave Word open and copy/paste symbols as needed, or type in Word and copy/paste . . .

Sorry for the long post, I hope it's helpful! ;)
