I know I’m late on this, but my puny library only had a few – I read The Uncommon Reader and liked it a lot! Now I am reading I Capture the Castle, and so far enjoying it very much. It is by the author of the book “The Hundred and One Dalmatians”, which is quite different from the Disney movie, and I highly recommend that one, too!

I just finished Chappell’s Farewell, I’m Bound to Leave You. WONDERFUL. Our library has 2 more of his books and the Montgomery one as well.After months of reading livestock manuals (grass fed beef and poultry) and Eliot Coleman’s winter harvesting books I feel as if I am on a delicous vacation.

I am so glad I found your book list! I finished everything on my own list and have been re-reading a lot of Austen this summer, which is always a treat, but I’m in need of some new ideas. I just wanted to recommend a book I recently read. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is a wonderful memoir that left me shaking my head in incredulity.

Most of those books were not at my library, but I did have to go grab my copy of The Blue Castle and start rereading it for the umpteenth time. It’s been a few years! I love the part where she first loses her fear and goes to the family dinner and lets loose!

“I Capture the Castle” is GREAT!! I read it when Poppins had it as a book choice on her “Denim Jumper” forum some years ago. Super book–very memorable and enjoyable. I’ve never gotten thru the movie though….
