After I finally gave up on bringing my post to an actual close last night, and just went ahead and put it up, I clicked over to see what Scott had written about the day. I knew there would be something. As usual, he blows me away. And he doesn’t take ten pages to do it, either.

In 2006, a year after I began this blog, I coined the term Tidal Homeschooling to describe my family’s homeschooling style, an ebb and flow of
high tide (planned, Charlotte Mason-ish) and low tide (unschoolish, delight directed) learning. You’ll sometimes see me call it Tidal Learning. Seventeen years later (and counting), the metaphor still works. At the time of this writing (January 2023), I’m enjoying tidal homeschooling with Huck and Rilla, my two youngest, now in their teens.
