Joann, yes, it was an intentional reference. 🙂 I’ve been reading the Just So Stories to Rilla, and when the elephant and giraffe (and crocodile, a minute later) started cavorting on my leg, that’s just what it reminded me of.
Karen & Mary Beth—that hair soooo needs a shearing, but the girls and Scott won’t let me near him with the clippers! It’s a mutiny!
And don’t you dare touch that hair, it’s mine, mine, mine, all mine! (Also don’t tell Beanie, as she would beg to differ.)
He looks like a little angel with those curls,so it’s really funny to think about his real personality. The little demon. And when he looks up at you with those big blue eyes… just like Whitekit/Whitepaw/Whitestorm.
All in all my warning comes down to this: DO NOT DARE CUT HIS HAIR I MEAN IT SERIOUSLY DO NOT TOUCH IT, MUCH LESS SHEAR IT LIKE HE IS A SHEEP.
It’s cute hair lately, but come a hot day and curls up into final-season Mike Brady hair, and Scott goes around humming the theme song to Greatest American Hero. 😉
How could you possibly argue with such wit? Besides, his hair might get long enough to put in a ponytail, and then you could get one of his ears pierced, and he could look like a cool hippy kid.
As for mistaking him for a girl – someone once looked at my Rose in her stroller with her long curls and pink overalls and asked what “his” name was.
Wow, your Rose IS a writer. Her comment was packed with personality. I’ll bet she sounds exactly like that. So cool. You are blessed. (Like you need reminding, huh? 🙂 )

His hair is beautiful…
But I’m in your camp of cutting it before someone mistakes him for a girl…I hate when that happens!
