Review Policy
What I am: A children’s book writer. A book recommender. A book enthusiast. Since 2005, I’ve been blogging about the books my (six) kids and I are excited about. I very, very seldom write about a book that didn’t bowl me over. Nearly all of the hundreds of books I’ve shared here at Bonny Glen are books someone in my family fell in love with. As an author, a reader, an educator, a mom, I enjoy helping books find readers, and vice versa.
My review policy: I accept picture books, early readers, middle-grade fiction, graphic novels, YA, children’s nonfiction, poetry, and adult literary fiction. At this time (2020), the categories in bold above tend to get priority treatment. Many parents write to me looking for book recommendations, and I have those requests in mind when considering which books to share. Because I write from a place of enthusiasm, I do not blog about every book I receive. If I fall in love with your book, I’ll be eager to share it with my readers here on the blog, on Instagram, on Twitter, and on Facebook.
For YA and adult fiction, I much prefer digital ARCs when available. I can access ARCs via Netgalley and Edelweiss.
I have served on CYBILs judging panels for Fiction Picture Books (2008, 2013), YA Fiction (2010, 2014-2019), Graphic Novels (2011), and Book Apps (2012).
At this time, I do not accept print editions of self-published books.
