Jane got SimCity for Christmas, and I am hogging it. I mean helping! I’m helping! With civics lessons! Yeah, that’s the ticket.

LOL…I love SimCity, and the Sims…….I’m currently on a break from them, though, because I get way too involved when I play! LOL

Posted on December 28th, 2006 at 10:06 amThe year my kids got SimCity, some really interesting things happened. They loved it on the computer, but THEN, they started playing a REALITY version they made up. That is, they created a real-life town; someone was the banker, someone was the mayor, someone was the developer, etc. There were taxes, there was road construction, there was retail, etc. All of their friends were forced, I mean, invited, to participate. Two of our boys figured out “percentages” thru their reality version of this game — one because of charging “sales tax” and one because he was the collector of property taxes. THEN, we had a really big storm, and their “town,” which was built in a sort of dry creek bed from boards left over from our house construction (you’d have to see it to appreciate why it was a good “fort”-type location) in the mountains of Greene Co. VA, washed away. Real Life Natural Disaster! Just like the Sim version! “Fortunately,” our tax-man son said, “I bring the tax records in after every time we play out there.” Of course. Taxes go on and on.
Art imitates Life imitates Art.
That is, if SimCity is Art, I guess.
Have fun!
