Via The Daily What. (Some content and comments there may not be appropriate for younger readers.) I can’t tell from the original source whether this photo is real or a beautiful fake, but in the course of my search for verification, I’ve learned a few interesting things about the Argentine ant, the ghost ant, and the honeypot ant. Plus, you know, it’s pretty.

In 2006, a year after I began this blog, I coined the term Tidal Homeschooling to describe my family’s homeschooling style, an ebb and flow of
high tide (planned, Charlotte Mason-ish) and low tide (unschoolish, delight directed) learning. You’ll sometimes see me call it Tidal Learning. Seventeen years later (and counting), the metaphor still works. At the time of this writing (January 2023), I’m enjoying tidal homeschooling with Huck and Rilla, my two youngest, now in their teens.
