Be Like the Bird

February 20, 2005 @ 6:30 pm | Filed under: Poetry

In honor of The Great Backyard Bird Count, which ends today, one of my favorite poems:

Be like the bird, who
Halting in his flight
On limb too slight
Feels it give way beneath him,
Yet sings,
Knowing he hath wings.

—Victor Hugo
