The avocado pit I planted grew three feet before it died… I was crushed. I so wanted an avocado tree and NO ONE could dissuade me that it probably wasn’t going to happen, in Northern California, forty minutes from SF, in a shady backyard, from a pit I’d rescued from the trash.
